KATHMANDU, MARCH 4Youth Innovation Lab in the consortium of Restless Development, CREASION, and Centre for Disaster Management Studies have won a grant from the European Union for the project Nepali Yuwa in Climate Action and Green Growth, which will be implemented in Madhes, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces from 2022 to 2025. Against this backdrop, an official national kick-off meeting was organised by Youth Innovation Lab with its consortium partners in Kathmandu today.Speaking at the event, Under-secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Rishi Raj Acharya said the ministry had been active in climate change and disaster management activities and was working towards preparing a draft for solid waste management and promotion of circular economy in the local level.Under-secretary at National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority Dijan Bhattarai highlighted that NDRRMA had been planning to work for disaster management in the selected provinces.

Furthermore, he added that the climate fellows could help in managing data that would be integrated into BI- PAD portal.The project promotes Nepali youth inclusion in climate actionUnder-secretary at NYC Kamala Gyawali said that providing youth with incubation hub where they could be mentored and coached using the Knowledge Process Practice Model could help foster entrepreneurship.

She further emphasised the need to recognise volunteerism.Programme Manager at the EU Rosalba Tuseo said the Madhes, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces were selected for the call for proposal on the basis of their vulnerability and the multidimensional poverty index.The EU head of cooperation Marco Gemmer shared that the EU had been supporting channels to work with the youths across the globe.A version of this article appears in the print on March 5, 2022, of The Himalayan Times. .
